What lights do I use in a bathroom?

What's an IP code?
The IP value indicates what level an electrical device is protected from invading water and dust. This code will still be followed by two digits.
Zones in the bathroom
Depending on the zone in the bathroom, there's a specific IP code.
- Zone 0: This is the inside of the bathtub or the shower. Enlightenment in this area must be completely watertight and working on very low tension. The minimal IP code for this area is IP67.
- Zone 1: This is the area right above the bathtub or the shower, to a height of 2.25 yards from the floor. Enlightenment in this area must be protected from strong water rays. The minimal IP code is IP65.
- Zone 2: This is the area that extends 60 centimeters outside the borders of zone 1 and to a height of 2.25 yards from the floor. Enlightenment in this area must be protected from spatwater. The minimal IP code is IP44.
- Outside the zones: Forbidden over 60 centimeters of zone 2 and higher than 2.25 yards are considered less critical. Here is lighting with an IP20 code usually enough, unless there are specific risks.

What better not put in a bathroom with lights

- No non-watertight armatures: Don't install lights without a suitable IP classification for the specific area. For zones close to water sources like bathtubs, showers, and washing tables is minimally IP44 required to ensure protection against spatwater.
- No too big arms in small bathrooms: Consider the measurements of armatures in relation to the size of the bathroom. Too great armatures can be overwhelming and taking valuable space.

Dimable lighting: Consider dim lighting for a relaxed atmosphere. Check to see if the dimmer is suitable for the type of lamp you choose.
- LED lights: LED lights are energy-sucky and have a long lifetime. They're available in different color temperatures, from warm white to cold white.
- Natural colors: Choose enlightenment that reflects the natural colors. (CRI 90 or higher) for a realistic recital of skin and makeup.
- Mirrors with lights: Consider mirrors with integrated lighting for extra functionality and modern appearance.
