Light and Shade?

Lightandshade is an online store specializing in high-quality designer lighting and furniture. We, the team behind Lightandshade, are always looking for products that are innovative in terms of craftsmanship, design, quality, and originality.

Through the website www.lightandshade.be, customers can make purchases in a pleasant, transparent, and secure manner. Order processing and shipping can be tracked via a track-and-trace system until delivery.

Terms of Use

A valid contract between the buyer and Lightandshade exists when Lightandshade confirms an order on its website. Lightandshade reserves the right to reject an order or impose additional conditions, e.g., for bulk orders, orders from minors, incomplete order processes, or issues with previous orders.

Invoices and Payments

Orders must always be paid in advance. Exceptionally, orders may be paid after delivery. The payment term for post-delivery orders is 10 business days, starting the next business day after receiving the order. The signature upon delivery by the courier service serves as proof of receipt and confirmation of the order.

If items are mistakenly delivered to the recipient, they have 10 business days to inform Lightandshade. If the items are not refused or disputed upon delivery, the recipient’s acceptance of the items is considered final approval of the order.

In the case of unjustified non-payment due to willful intent and/or negligence, a compensation fee of 10% will be charged by law and without prior notice, with a minimum amount of €50 and a maximum of €2,500 per invoice. The recipient has 10 business days to dispute the received invoice. If the invoice or delivered goods are not disputed within this period, the order (and the delivered items) are automatically confirmed as correctly and properly received.

An order is considered final only when the customer has completed the payment. For bank transfers, an order is considered confirmed when the payment has been received on account IBAN BE23 0018 3430 8291 in favor of Lightandshade (N-VORM BV).

Loss or Damage During Transport

According to commercial law, the loss and/or damage of an ordered product during transport is the seller’s responsibility. Lightandshade must be informed via email within 24 hours after delivery. Lightandshade reserves the right to reject liability if this deadline is not met.

14-Day Return Policy

The Belgian law on commercial practices and consumer protection (April 6, 2010) allows the buyer to inform the seller (info@lightandshade.be) within 14 days of receiving the goods that they wish to withdraw from the purchase. The goods must be returned in unopened packaging within 14 days after notification. Items that have been used or connected by the buyer can be returned but may be subject to a depreciation assessment.

The product packaging must not be used as the shipping packaging. It must always be additionally packed to prevent damage. A copy of the invoice and a cover letter should be included with the return. Lightandshade will refund the original invoice amount once we receive the returned item. The refund will be made to the card/account number or payment method the buyer used for the purchase.

The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. Lightandshade covers return shipping costs only if the buyer received the wrong item. Lightandshade may reject returns or refunds if the packaging has already been opened, the products are damaged by the customer, or if the customer fails to return the items within 14 days after receiving the return label. An exchange or refund will only take place once the returned items have been received at the return address.

Cancellation of a Shipped Order

The buyer must wait until the item is delivered. According to the applicable return policy, the buyer must return the item. Lightandshade will refund the original invoice amount as soon as possible.

Returns

The buyer must return the item sufficiently stamped (and by registered mail if the shipment value exceeds €50.00). The buyer must include a copy of the invoice and a cover letter stating the account number. The buyer bears the return shipping costs.

Unstamped or insufficiently stamped returns will always be refused and returned to the sender.

Delivery

The estimated delivery date will always be communicated when possible. Lightandshade is not responsible for issues with the courier or transport company. Lightandshade is not responsible for incorrect addresses provided by the customer. If a package is not delivered due to an incorrect address, the customer is liable. If the package is lost as a result, Lightandshade will not refund the order.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are clearly indicated during the checkout process for both domestic and international shipments. The costs vary depending on the weight of the shipment.

Our Products

All products offered by Lightandshade are described as completely and accurately as possible. Offers and prices are valid on the day they are published on our website. All prices include VAT and possible environmental taxes (Recupel and Bebat).

Lightandshade cannot be held liable for errors in offers. In case of an error, the order will be canceled and refunded. Lightandshade reserves the right to cancel and refund an order at any time without the customer’s consent.

Lightandshade cannot be held responsible for the consequences of product unavailability or late delivery beyond the 2-3 week timeframe. Lightandshade offers products based on manufacturers' catalogs. If a manufacturer discontinues a product, Lightandshade cannot be held responsible. If a product is unavailable, the order will be immediately refunded.

Discounts

Additional promotions or discounts do not apply to personalized quotes.

Warranty Policy

Many products come with strong warranties ranging from 2 years to a lifetime. These warranties only apply if the products have been used correctly. The warranty is based on the manufacturer’s/brand’s guarantee. Lightandshade follows the warranty procedure and conditions of the respective manufacturer/brand.

General Guidelines:

  • Light bulbs and batteries are not covered under warranty unless stated otherwise.
  • Items that have been intentionally damaged or repaired by the customer, causing additional damage, are not covered under warranty.
  • Contact Lightandshade (info@lightandshade.be) for warranty claims so we can correctly follow the manufacturer’s warranty process.

If the warranty applies, send us the product sufficiently stamped along with a copy of your purchase invoice and a damage description. Lightandshade reserves the right to repair the damaged product or replace it with a similar or equivalent product of the same type and price range.

The repaired or replaced product will be sent to you free of charge within a previously agreed timeframe, after the manufacturer’s process has been followed.

Legislation

All products offered on www.Lightandshade.be comply with Belgian legislation. Foreign customers should always check the laws in their own country if they have doubts about the legality of their purchase.

Lightandshade cannot be held liable if the offered items are used improperly or irresponsibly by the buyer, or if third parties suffer material or physical damage due to incorrect and/or illegal use of the products purchased from this website.
